Welcome to 2025!
Things are hotting up in the AI coding agent space with Replit fighting for attention with the likes of Cursor, v0, Loveable and Bolt.
Expect this year to be the one where a whole load of new people enter the software building space and the cost and complexity of creating stuff drops close to zero.
What’s new with Replit
Despite it being the end of the year, the Replit team kept busy.
The focus at the moment seems to be on rolling out new integrations (which they also call connections).
NEW on Replit: connections are front and center.
You'll notice we're making Agent connections easier to add. Many of these already existed, but we want to make it more obvious exactly what platforms Agent is optimized for.
Additionally, the team is hard at work to improve… x.com/i/web/status/1…

In just the last few days they dropped integrations for xAI and Perplexity (with OpenAI already in the mix), making it even easier to launch AI-focussed products.
Also on the radar = workflows.
🚢 Workflows
You, or Agent, can now define workflows in Replit. For example, you might run a "scrape and load" workflow when you need to update data in your project.
The workflows you define will appear in the console or under the Run button.

Aside from that, Replit is continuing to drop regular QoL updates - you can find them in the Replit changelog which is now regularly updated.
Oh… and it might get easier to manage your PostgreSQL databases in the UI (please!)
Yup — Replit’s the only agent on the market with builtin database integration.
And we’re shipping a database admin UI that’s much better.

Useful & interesting
Matt Palmer posted a nice tutorial for building a document converter app using Microsoft’s new MarkItDown package.

Meanwhile, community member Doc Williams published this walkthrough of building a sleep habit tracker with Replit Agent.
Finally, there’s this interesting article discussing the merits of different pricing models for AI coding agents.
