News from Replit

The big news this week is that Replit Agent is out of beta. And, there’s a new update to their older AI chat tool, which now becomes Assistant. It has the ability to make code changes for you (before you had to do that yourself).

The other update is with pricing. Instead of time-capped usage of Replit (annoying!), you can now build all you want. Checkpoints in Agent are charged at $0.25 each and Assistant code changes are $0.05 each. Use from your plan credit and then top up extra if needed.

Oh, and the layout has changed as well - the sidebar is easier to navigate and emphasis is on the Agent/Assitant chat now.

Tips & resources

Matt Palmer, head of developer relations at Replit, posted an intro video showing off the new features of Assistant.

Community updates

This week has seen a bunch more Replit staffers from the engineering and product team join the community.

They’ve mostly hung out in the #feedback-bugs channel triaging issues and ideas from community members. So, if you’ve got something to say about Replit, do it in there.

And one interesting clue to come out of the community - it looks like Replit might be working on more native app integrations.

Their auto-provisioned PostgreSQL databases from Neon are great so more connections would be awesome. It could even position Replit as an alternative to Zapier.
